DUNCAN — After helping the Houston Rockets get back on their feet after eight years as executive VP of basketball operations, Marlow native Sam Hinkie is taking his talents to the east coast.

This past Wednesday, Hinkie was formally introduced to the public as the new President and General Manager of the Philadelphia 76ers.

During the 2012-13 season, Philly missed the playoffs and only totaled 34 wins on the season, a trend Hinkie and owner Joshua Harris will look to change, starting with the upcoming draft.

Hinkie replaced former president Rod Thorn and GM Tony DiLeo, after Thorn moved into a consulting role with the team and DiLeo was fired.
