Demons clinch bid for state, take third place at regionals

DUNCAN — The regional tournament is now over, but the most important time of the season for the Duncan boy’s golf team is just about to begin.

With two individuals Top-10 finishes, the Demons placed third of 12 teams in the tournament, punching their ticket to the Class 5A state tournament at the Duncan Golf and Tennis Club.

The Demons finished the day with a team score of 645, five strokes behind regional champion Deer Creek.

Leading the way for Duncan was Tyler Albin, who shot a 78 and 80 to take fifth place with a total of 158.

Finishing right behind Albin was Blake Graham, who took Duncan’s other Top-10 score: an eight place finish with a score of 161.

The team’s best round of the day went to Logan Harris, who led Duncan with a score of 77 in the first round. Harris was not as successful in the last 18 holes, shooting an 89 en route to a finish of 166.

Also instrumental in Duncan’s third place finish were Thomas Gallion and Christian Dructor. Dructor shot a 90 and 79 to finish with a 169 and Gallion sjot an 87 and 83 to take a 170.

 Duncan’s competition at state will include the other five teams that placed in the top six – – Deer Creek, McGuiness, Altus, El Reno and Carl Albert.
