DUNCAN — Playing college soccer was something Duncan senior Maddy Williams always dreamed would be possible.

Monday morning in front of her teammates, family and coach, she realized her dream.

Williams officially signed her letter-of-intent to play for the Southwest Christian University Lady Eagles soccer team in Bethany, OK.

“It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders,” Williams said about signing with SCU. “I felt relieved and excited all at the same time. It was pretty great for me. Having my family there really made me feel like I had accomplished something.”

Even though her senior season was cut short due to a knee injury, Williams more than proved her worth during her time as a Lady Demon.

During this present season, Williams averaged more than five saves per game, along with earning two shutouts during the season.

“I’m so happy for Maddy being able to sign today,” Duncan coach Delyida Gay said. “This is something not everyone gets to experience. People are now getting to see the same things that I saw in her four years ago. She deserves this opportunity and is taking full advantage of it.”

Williams added that the great atmosphere around campus at SCU influenced her decision to choose them.

“At first I was just going for a visit,” she said. “But when I got there the team just welcomed me and it was such a great experience for me. The team as a whole was great, plus it’s a Christian school which is even better for me.”
