Lady Demons break losing streak vs. El Reno

DUNCAN — For the Duncan Lady Demons soccer team, Friday night was a feeling they haven’t gotten to experience in the past couple of weeks: Winning.

Against the El Reno Lady Indians, DHS got some help from some unlikely scorers, along with some familiar faces as the Lady Demons got the shutout road win 4-0.

“This is how we were playing before districts, and when the season started,” Duncan coach Delydia Gay said. “It was great to see us take the lid off the goal and score out there. Pretty much everyone got to get playing time out there.”

Tabetha Cochran put the Lady Demons in front at 1-0 with her first goal of the season from outside the box in the first half.

Stephanie Wainscott then made it 2-0 when she converted home a corner from teammate Shai Johnson, giving her seven goals on the season.

In the second half, Victoria Demar also scored her first goal of the season when her shot found the back of the net to give the Lady Demons a 3-0 advantage.

Courtney Moore, who got the shutout in goal, scored the Lady Demons fourth goal of the night when she converted a penalty kick.

El Reno was issued two red cards during the contest, along with multiple yellow cards.

Meanwhile, the Demons found themselves in another one-goal contest against the Indians.

Unfortunately, DHS couldn’t find the breakthrough and fell 3-2.

With the score level at 1-1 going into halftime, the Indians scored two second half goals to seal the victory.

No other information was available.

Both the Demons and Lady Demons will be at home for senior night on Tuesday against Western Heights with kickoff set for 5 and 7 p.m.

  • Duran Duran has one obstacle left: State

Midway through her sophomore year, Comanche’s Alexis Duran had her athletic life taken away from her, but this spring she got it back in spectacular fashion.
An ACL tear in basketball kept the three-sport star out for a full year before she got to compete again in track as a junior. Duran didn’t just show up and run, she pushed for medals and came just shy of making the state tournament, finishing one spot away by a tenth of a second.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
