CENTRAL HIGH —
While it might be early in the year, the Central High Lady Bronchos are always in the mood for a good comeback.
A six-run first inning extinguished a 1-0 lead for Fletcher as CHHS ended the game with a 15-7 victory over the Lady Wildcats.
“We played good for it being early in the year,” Central coach Chad Weldon said. “Fletcher is a really good team and we’re slowly getting better.”
Lora-Lynn Loomis tied the game at 1-1, before Aleia Daniels gave Central High the lead with an RBI single to make it 2-1.
With a two-run lead, Christa Sparks then added to it with an RBI single of her own to make it 4-1.
Briann Dougherty then scored on a walk to make it 5-1 in favor of the Lady Bronchos, before Central High added one more run to make it 6-1 heading into the second inning.
Fletcher cut the lead to 6-4 in the top of the second, but the Lady Bronchos had an answer.
Daniels and Dougherty both struck again, along with Faith Harris scoring to make it 9-4 going into the third inning.
Sara Hawkey collected an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to make it 10-6, with Dougherty scoring her third run of the game to make 11-6.
Daniels made it 12-6 with an RBI single, with Lacie Phillips and Caitlyn White (2) adding the other RBI’s in the contest.
