DUNCAN — After some fine tuning in scrimmage play, the Duncan Demons soccer will start its regular season Friday night, when it hosts U.S.Grant at Haliburton Stadium.

With most of its players returning, Demons coach Marcus Williams pointed to chemistry and experience as some of the team’s strengths.

“What I took away from the scrimmages was that we’re moving the ball extremely well, but we have to work on finishing,” Williams said. “We have guys who are now really familiar with the system we’ve put in place.”

That system, Williams said, will include a balance of long and short passes offensively.

In three scrimmages in Lawton last week, the Demons went 1-2, losing 1-0 to Lawton Mac Arthuer and Chickaska, and beating Weatherford 2-0.The team followed up with an impressive 5-1 victory over at home against Ada.

Josh Adamson, who scored one of those goals against Weatherford, will be depended on to run the midfield. Orlando Martinez, who scored the game’s other goal, Allen Gonzales and Marques Anders will be looked upon to provide scoring. The defense will be anchored by seniors Darion Bowles and Justin Gonzalez. At keeper, the Demons will rely on Seoul Garcia to stop shots.

The teams will square off at 7:30 p.m.
