VELMA-ALMA LADY COMETS
Last, but certainly not least this season was the amazing performance put on by the Velma-Alma Lady Comets, which saw them face tragedy before the season even began.
However, with sadness came a united team as the Lady Comets dedicated the 2012-13 season to the memory of Braylee Henry, compiling a resume that will forever be remembered.
After finishing fourth in the Bullet Energy Comet Classic, V-A claimed third place in the Black Diamond and Stephens County Tournaments, before sweeping through districts, and being named regional runners-up.
Then, V-A won two games at the area tournament, falling just one game short of state.
V-A finished with an overall record of 21-8, with seniors Teddi Southerland, Kylee Saville, and Shalyn Files along with juniors Jordan Layn, Samantha Moore and Bita Humphreys all contributing.
There was also the debut for junior Ariah Johnson, who stole the show in her first game at the Black Diamond Tournament.
Needless to say, the 2012-13 season set the bar very high for next season.
