36th Annual Blowout starts Friday morning

DUNCAN — Duncan’s largest golf tournament of the year will tee off Friday when the 36th Annual Blowout Tournament begins at the Duncan Golf and Tennis Club.

The tournament will include a field of 256 golfers, making up 128 teams.

Though the actual scramble will commence Saturday, the event will start Friday at 3 p.m. with a “horse race,” where the groups tee off together and eliminate the player with the highest score after each hole until one last player remains.

When the scramble begins Saturday morning, teams will be placed in flights according to their handicaps and compete in the first of three rounds. Morning flights are slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. while afternoon play will tee off at 1:30 p.m.. In Sunday’s second round, the times will stay the same but flights will be switched.

A cut will be made after play on Sunday, leading into Monday’s final round.

The event will also give also give out prizes for closest-to-the-pin and longest drive contests and hole-in-ones. Prizes this year includes a car, cruise and a set of golf clubs.
