DUNCAN — Ever since Duncan native and Central Oklahoma freshman Autumn Gordon joined the rowing team this year, she’s had no trouble making waves for her competition.

The latest targets were top Division I foes Kansas State and Oklahoma last weekend, as Gordon and her UCO teammates finished ahead of the Wildcats and the Sooners in the novice race at the OU Invitational last weekend.

Gordon and teammates J’Lynn Wiewel, Amy Le, Chelsey McArthur, Marlie Ball and Asia Strickland got off to a strong start, rowing their way to victory in the meet’s opening race.

In its second race, the team narrowly fell to Oklahoma, coming within one second of beating Kansas State and OU in two straight races.

On the second day of racing, Gordon’s team got the last laugh. The Bronchos earned a statement victory, beating out KSU and OU for the second out of three times. By finishing in 9:01.34, UCO finished more than seven seconds ahead of the Sooners.

The Duncan native and the Bronchos will return to action against Division II foes Nova Southeastern, Barry and Florida Tech on March 23.
