DUNCAN —

Mother Nature apparently isn’t much of a baseball fan.

Saturday afternoon saw the heavens open up and with the ensuing downpour, claim numerous baseball games across the area with Duncan and Central High being among those affected by the moisture.

After being rescheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Duncan baseball team’s home opener against Southmoore was postponed for good after the rain persevered before the start of the game.

Demons coach Tim Hightower said that with each team taking on busy schedules, the game may not be rescheduled.

The team’s next contest is scheduled for Tuesday when it will host a doubleheader against Southeast at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. before hosting Lawton Eisenhower on Friday March 15.

Meanwhile, at Central High the rain caused the latter portion of the Red Dirt Classic tournament to be canceled Saturday afternoon, with playing conditions not possible due to most of the field being submerged in water.

As a result the semi-finals and final round were washed out with Wayne claiming third place to close out the tournament.

However, Central High and Healdton who were the only undefeated teams left, will meet for the championship Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. from Broncho Field, with the winner being crowned champions of the Red Dirt Classic tournament.
