CENTRAL HIGH —
Despite temperatures dropping to a cold state Friday night, the Central High Lady Bronchos offense had no problem heating up against Empire.
In a game that lasted only three innings, the Lady Bronchos scored 10 runs in the first and second to claim a 20-0 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.
“We hit the ball really well today,” Central coach Chad Weldon said. “Our defense was solid and overall our girls were ready to play today.”
Keena Huffman started the game off with a two-RBI triple, before Kelsie Murphy brought her home with an RBI single to make it 3-0.
Christa Sparks and Allison Vandever then registered RBI singles to make it 5-0 before Sara Hawkey got an RBI double to make it 6-0.
Lora-Lynn Loomis finished the inning off with an inside the park grand slam to make it 10-0.
Huffman and Sparks each collected RBI’s in the second inning, with Briann Dougherty also getting an RBI single to make it 13-0.
Hawkey got another RBI single, with teammates Caitlyn White and Huffman each getting 2-RBI doubles in the inning.
Loomis got two more RBI as well in the second inning.
Lacie Phillips got the win on the mound for the Lady Bronchos, allowing just one hit with one strikeout in three innings of work.
Taylor Maxi took the loss for the Lady Bulldogs on the mound.
Central High will be taking on Wilson and Ringling in a triangular on Monday afternoon, with Empire taking on Bray-Doyle on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
