Local briefs: Dehydrator set to start Saturday

DUNCAN — Humphreys hits ace in Velma

Recent Velma-Alma graduate L.L. Humphreys made the most of his trip to the Wildhorse Golf Course Wednesday, hitting a hole-in-one on a 120 par three hole.

Humphreys used a nine iron to hit the ace, which was witnessed by Kaleb Osmurs.



Wiles to be honored at Memorial Softball Tournament

Marlow will host an overnight softball tournament in memory of former Duncan resident Alyssa Wiles, who was murdered June 10.

Starting at 8 p.m., the games will be played at Eddie Palmer Field.

All funds from the event will go to the Wiles family.



She is Safe to host “Run From Dark” 5K Run/Walk

 The local She is Safe Advocacy team will sponsor a night 5K Run/Walk Friday that will start at 9 p.m. Friday at the west parking lot of Duncan Regional Hospital.

The event will serve to raise awareness and funds for the organization, which fights to liberate women from abuse, poverty and exploitation in high risk places around the globe.



Duncan’s annual bike event to kick off on Saturday

The Dehydrator will be back in Duncan this weekend, starting at 7:05 a.m. Saturday at the Simmons Center. The event will feature rides of 10, 25, 50, 62 and 80 miles, the later being a new addition, but will not host a race.

Those still interested in registering can sign up on the day of the event or today at the Simmons Center from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m..
