MARLOW — It seems the Marlow Lady Outlaws are starting to hit their stride at just the right time.

Following a convincing win last Saturday night against Comanche, the Lady Outlaws put their efforts to good use again on Tuesday, grinding out a 46-37 victory over Purcell.

“Defensively we did a lot better tonight,” Marlow coach Kirk Harris said. “We’re getting closer as a team offensively. I feel like though our 46 should have been 66. We’re leaving a lot of points on the floor. Hopefully every game we will get better and click at the right time.”

With three quarters complete it looked like Purcell was going to make a run at the Lady Outlaws, as the Lady Dragons were well within striking distance at 32-27.

However, a 14-2 run in the fourth quarter put an end to any hopes of a comeback.

Instead it was full speed ahead for Marlow as the Lady Outlaws picked up their second straight victory in as many days.

Purcell rarely caused problems in the first half, as the Lady Outlaws held a 10-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the blink of an eye though, MHS was up 19-9 at the 2:45 mark of the second.

Marlow took a 23-13 lead going into halftime.

“We ended up getting them (Purcell) out of their zone and that was a plus,” Harris said. “We were about even in free throws which is something that hasn’t happened much this season. In the fourth quarter we got to the line some and our physcialness on the boards helped us take charge of the game.”

Ashley O’Dell led all scorers on the night with 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The senior was also named homecoming queen at halftime of the boys game.

Avery Walker added five points with Diamond Morris putting in four points along with Emalee Williams.

Purcell (3-10) was led by Olivia Couch with seven points, followed by Katy Whitekiller, Bailee McGowan and Ashlinn Snow all with six points.

Marlow (5-5) will be in action on Thursday at the Lone Grove Tournament against Talihina at 1:00 p.m.
