Duncan junior high girls tennis team wins at Heritage Hall

DUNCAN — While the Duncan High School tennis teams have been constantly obtaining success this season, the Duncan junior high tennis program is doing much of the same.

This past Friday April 6, at the Heritage Hall Tournament, the DJHS Lady Demons Tennis team claimed the overall team title, with team members dominating their competition.

No. 1 singles Rachel Hartman claimed second in her  bracket, first defeating Alyssa Hall of Perry by scores of 6-0, 6-2.

In the semifinals, Hartman won against Laura Boggs of Oklahoma Christian Schools by scores of 7-6, 6-2.

Lauren Harvey of Heritage Hall proved to be too much to overcome in the finals however, as Hartman fell by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

No. 2 singles player Logan Churchman was victorious in her bracket, claiming a win over Ananya Bhaktaran of Cassady in the first round by scores of 6-2, 6-1.

Ellie Dunn of West Minster was no match for Churchman in the semi’s as the Lady Demon standout brushed aside her competition by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

In the finals, Churchman claimed the title with a win over Allison Waltman from Hertiage Hall, winning by scores of 6-2 and 6-0.

The No. 1 doubles team of Jordan Clauson and Mackenzie Rains also claimed a championship on the day in their respective bracket.

Round one saw the duo defeat the team of Audrey Goodson from Duncan and Zsiger from Cassady 6-0, 6-0.

Farhood and Richmond from Cassady were also handled in the semifinals as Clauson and Rains won 6-0, 6-1.

In the finals the Lady Demon team won against Myers and Thompson from Heritage Hall by scores of 6-1, 6-1.

Peyton Bowers and Addie Watkins, who made up the No. 2 doubles team for the Lady Demons, also won their respective bracket.

In the first round, the pair took down Lucero and Pahcoddy from Anadarko by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

With the semifinals saw the team of Norton and Peterson from Perry defeated by results of 6-1 and 6-3.

For the title, the Lady Demon duo defeated Greene and Platt from Cassady, 6-3, 6-0.
