Building off the momentum from the Putnam City game, the Demons executed in all phases of the game in its win against the Longhorns (10-5).
Duncan wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, putting up two runs in the first inning.Stanley got on base with a walk and Mason Hightower brought him home with a blast to right centerfield that was dropped by the Lone Grove outfielder.
Refusing to let up, the Demons brought in six more runs in the second. Stanley plated Phillips and Taber Kaspereit with a two RBI single and Byford kept the offense going, bringing in Stanley with his own RBI single. Byford and Hightower scored later in the inning, and the Demons never looked back. The team added a run in the third and fourth to run rule the Longhorns in four innings.
“We keep getting better day by day at the plate and it showed on Friday,” Hightower said. “We got some key hits and made enough plays to win.”
Campbell continued his breakout game with a strong performance on the mound, picking up his first win of the season. The junior shut out Lone Grove in four innings of work, allowing just two hits and notching two strikeouts.
The Demons will play next at 5 p.m. Monday when it hosts Carl Albert.
