With their seasons now in the books, the Duncan basketball teams took time to look back on the year that was during their annual banquet Wednesday night at the Duncan Middle School.
The night began with players, coaches, families and friends sitting down for a potluck dinner.
Those attending began to reflect on the 2012-13 season when a highlight video of the top plays throughout the Lady Demons season got started.
Head coach Aaron Minor then called up each of the team’s four seniors – Jamie Carberry, Aja Calvin, Quita Carr and Sarah Ray – and presented them with awards for completing their Duncan High School basketball careers.
Next up was a highlight video of the boys team dunking, shooting and alley ooping their way through the competition.
When the video concluded, Demons coach Mikel Davison took time to talk about his three seniors; Cade Baldwin, Carter David and Jack Braught, and reflected on each of their histories with himself and the basketball team. The trio was given the “Golden D Awards” for finishing their high school careers with Duncan basketball.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to get to know and coach these young men,” Davison said. “I’ve coached for 33 years and this is one of my favorite years ever of coaching.”
Davison then took time to point out the team’s remaining players and reflected upon each player’s experience with the team during the 2013 season.
Each coach thanked their coaching staffs for helping them with their seasons: Minor with Channa Byerly and Amanda Lard and Davison with Ben Scott, Brian Keith and Matt Tillson.
Duncan’s Tip In Club wrapped up the night by presenting gifts to Davison and Minor.
