DUNCAN — Duncan High School’s football team has completed its scrimmages and predistrict work. Now it’s time for the Demons to get down to business.

Duncan hosts Capitol Hill Friday night at Halliburton Stadium to open District 1-5A play. It will be the Demons’ homecoming. A pep rally will be held at Duncan High School at 10:25 a.m., at which time the royalty will be presented. The king and queen will be crowned at halftime of Friday’s game.

The Demons opened the season with a home game against Guthrie and a road game at Carl Albert, facing two teams considered among the top contenders for the Class 5A title. Duncan’s home game against Weatherford was cancelled because of rain and lightning.

Meanwhile, Capitol Hill has opened the season at 1-2, beating Grant 44-22, losing to Oklahoma Centennial 22-6 and to Rogers College 55-14.

The district opponents have met 31 times, with Duncan leading the series 26-4-1. Last year, the Demons won the district meeting 49-7.

Going into Friday’s game, Connor Kelly leads the Demons in rushing with 188 yards on 36 carries and teammate Je’Mario McCoy has 156 yards rushing on 17 carries. On defense, Hunter Kelly leads the Demons with 22 tackles, Connor Kelly has 13 and Mason Hightower has 12.
