DUNCAN — Duncan’s football preseason schedule is under way, and that means an annual tradition held to serve the program is right around the corner.

Before taking to the gridiron at the Demon Preview Scrimmage, Duncan’s player will commit to helping out off the field at the eighth Duncan Demon Player Football Player Auction Saturday night at Duncan Middle School.

“It’s a great fundraiser for Duncan football, it helps with the purchasing and replacing of equipment, bus fares, meals, or anything else that the program needs,” Jeff Wright, President of the Duncan Quarter Back Booster Club, said. “Everyone has a lot of fun and it’s something a lot of people look forward to.”

The club will put all players and managers in their sophomore through senior years up for auction, with the winning bidder receiving seven hours of labor from the people they have bid on and won.

Expectations for the event are high in 2013. The club set a goal of exceeding last year’s total of $17,075 in funds raised.

Festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. with a complimentary dinner, followed by the auction. The players will strap on their helmets and hit the field for the scrimmage at 8 p.m..

If you’re unable to attend the auction but would like to bid on players, contact Jeff Wright at (580)-606-2427.
