DUNCAN — The Duncan volleyball team was unable to pull out a win at Cement Thursday, but the signs of improvement were easy to see all around.

“We did not come away with a victory , but we played a much better game than in our opener against Snyder tonight,” Lady Demons head coach Sandy Mitchell said. “We played more as team and had 31 digs. When you’re able to get that many digs, it shows that you’re playing good defense and forcing the other team to use different hitters.”

Duncan opened with back to back 25-12 defeats before falling 25-18 in the third game.

Carly Kirkland and Delaney Mitchell led the way for Duncan, finishing with a team best seven digs each. Kirkland led Duncan with three aces while Mitchell finished with a team-high four kills and two blocks.

“I’m very proud of the way our team played tonight,” Mitchell said. “We looked like a different team tonight and there were a lot of positive changes to build off of.”
