DUNCAN — It was another eventful weekend for area racers at the Lawton Speedway, with a handful of drivers from the Stephens County area starting up their engines in various divisions Saturday.

Duncan residents and regulars at the course Tony Morgan and David Shipman were at it once again, competing in the Limited Modified Division. Shipman placed ninth in the main race after claiming second in Heat 2 while Morgan finished just ahead of Shipman in the heat, placing sixth.

The USA modified Division was filled with Waurika races, with three drivers turning their wheels at the track. Chadd Howell led the way for local drivers, placing fifth in the main race following a third place finish in Heat 1. The Winton family was well represented once again, with Harold Winton Sr. claiming 12th and Harold Winton Jr. finishing one back in 13th place. The pair also had similar success in their heats – Winton Sr. took seventh while Winton Jr. placed fifth.

Shawn Johnson of Marlow placed highest of all Stephens County racers in the Factory Stocks Division, taking fourth place in the main race following a second place finish in Heat 1. Stormi Hansen from Central finished eight in the main race with Duncan’s Mike Jackson right behind him in ninth. The duo also shared Heat 2, as Jackson took third and Hansen finished sixth.
