DUNCAN — The Duncan baseball team will close the regular season Monday at home against Lawton High.

Demon coach Tim Hightower said he wants to use this game as a chance to get the players ready for the upcoming regional tournament.

“We’ll want to throw some kids who we plan to use in regionals and get them ready,” Hightower said. “We’ll have kids who we will look at in relief and try to get everybody at least an inning.”

Duncan will learn its regional fate Monday when the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association announces the regional pairings. The Demons finished fourth in District 2-5A. While the Demons held the tiebreaker over Noble, the Bears split with Chickasha last week to finish one game ahead of Duncan in the district standings.

Hightower used the last couple of days of practice as a chance to fine tune some areas for the postseason.

“We’re going to work on some things we don’t get to do a lot during the season,” he said. “We’ll sharpen in areas we need sharpening.”

Monday’s game will be Pink Night. The Demon players will wear pink and a fundraiser will be held to benefit cancer research.
