DUNCAN — Former Demons assistant coach Ben Scott has been named the next head coach of the Duncan boys’ basketball team, Duncan Athletic Director Burl White said Friday afternoon.
A former head coach at Holdenville, Scott spent last season working with the Demons as its top assistant under former Duncan coach Mikel Davison, who resigned three weeks ago.
“We wanted to make sure we made a good hire for the position, and we now already know we made the right choice,” White said about hiring Scott. “He has a great knowledge of the game, and we’re very happy to add him as our head coach.”
Scott initially came to Duncan last year in an effort to be closer to family in Comanche.
White said Scott’s experience, organized nature and personality all made him a strong fit for the position.
“He’s excellent in creating practice agendas and workout plans,” White said. “He is one of the most organized coaches in any sport that I have ever met.”
