DUNCAN — Saturday night will mark the beginning of the final season inside the old Broncho Gymnasium for Central High varsity basketball.

Big Pasture will provide the opposition for the Bronchos and Lady Bronchos with games starting at 6:30 p.m.

For the Lady Bronchos, they will be debuting a squad chalk full of seniors, who will want to build on the success of last season, when CHHS lost in the regional finals.

Caitlyn White, Lora-Lynn Loomis, and Lacie Phillips will be among the returning players this season for head coach Chad Weldon’s squad.

Head coach John Nease and his Broncho squad will look to build on a 12-win season from a year ago, but are going up against a fairly seasoned Rangers squad who have played multiple games already in 2012-13.

“Big Pasture has had a system in place for a long time now with their kids,” Nease said. “I remember some of their kids from last year, and they are very fast and athletic. This will be a good test for us in our opening game.”

Seniors Connor Albiston, Matthew Quisenberry and Noe Ruiz will be among the returners this season on a squad that features 18 total players.

“There’s been some competition in practice, which is a good thing,” Nease said. “I’ve been very please with how the guys have been working hard and putting in the effort necessary to be successful.”
