DUNCAN — On a night when storms were predicted in the forecast, the Duncan Lady Demons soccer team found themselves in the middle of one at Chickasha Tuesday night.

A three-goal barrage in the second half was too much to overcome as CHS handed Duncan its third district defeat by a score of 4-0 at Hampton Field.

Lindsey Trostle, who was filling in for Maddy Williams at goalkeeper due to a right knee injury, registered 20 saves on the night, which drew praise from head coach Delyida Gay.

“I thought Taylor did an awesome job, and I was very impressed with her,” she said. “We as a team though didn’t have enough offense on the night. We were only able to generate two total shots on goal, which was the difference.”

Chickasha took the lead at 36:46 of the first half, a lead which the Fighting Chicks took with them into the halftime break.

Two penalty kicks in the second half all but signaled the end of a Lady Demons comeback.

First at 35:39, the penalty was called for a handball inside the box, with the second happening at 20:34 as a result of a foul committed inside the penalty area.

Chickasha scored from a shot outside the box at the 12:10 mark of the second half.

Duncan will look to gain its first district win of the season on the road Friday night against Noble with kickoff set for 5:30 p.m.

CHICKASHA 3, DUNCAN 0

Just when it looked like the Demons might earn their second district win of the season, things went sour in a matter of minutes.

Three goals in the last 10 minutes of the second half spelled doom for Duncan as CHS came away with a 3-0 victory.

“We played an excellent game, and the final score doesn’t really tell the full story,” Duncan coach Marcus Williams said. “Even Chickasha’s coach was shocked at what was happening out there. Our defense was great until those last 10 minutes. We just can’t mentally check out of games like that.”

An error at the back resulted in the first goal for the Fighting Chicks, with the second goal coming off a well-placed shot.

CHS’ third goal came from a cross sent in behind the defense which resulted in a tap-in.

Duncan will look to get back on track against Noble Friday night with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
