DUNCAN — While Duncan girls soccer head coach Delydia Gay got the response she wanted from her players Friday night at Durant, the Lady Demons didn’t quite get the desired result.

Twice the Lady Demons took the lead against the No. 9 Lady Lions, but twice Durant came back to tie the game, eventually claiming a 4-2 victory.

“Overall our girls played well and came out strong,” Gay said. “We just had a couple of defensive mistakes at the back. Those are what led to Durant tying the game and eventually taking the lead.”

Duncan took the lead in the first half through a goal from Stephanie Wainscott, who scored for the third consecutive game, notching her sixth goal of the season.

Durant responded though to even the score up and leave the game level at 1-1 going into halftime.

Shai Johnson gave the Lady Demons the lead for the second time shortly after the break, when she slotted home her seventh goal of the season.

However, the Lady Lions were one step ahead, again.

Three unanswered goals put an end to any comeback hopes the Lady Demons had in mind, as Duncan fell to 4-4 overall and 0-2 in district play.

Duncan will stay on the road for a matchup against another top-ten ranked team in Chickasha Tuesday night.

Kickoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. from Hampton Field on the campus of Chickasha High School.
