After going toe-to-toe with MacArthur in their first meeting, Duncan was plenty confident for its next meeting with the Highlanders.
Apparently, MacArthur wasn’t lacking confidence, either.
The Demons were within two points of Class 5A’s No. 6 team after the first quarter, but the Highlanders broke away in the second en route to a 70-51victory at home Tuesday night.
Duncan (5-9) scored only five points in the second quarter as the slipped into a 38-22 halftime hole. The Demons cut it to 12 points by the end of the third quarter (49-37) but MacArthur closed strong for the win.
Senior Jack Braught led Duncan with 14 points 10 rebounds, five blocks and four assists, while junior DeAndre Vermaire had 13 points and four assists and junior Isiah Ervin tallied 12 points. Seniors Carter David and Cade Baldwin finsished with seven and four points, respectively. Sophomore Ben Peterson chipped in with one point.
The Duncan Lady Demons fell on the road Tuesday against the sixth-ranked Lady Highlanders.
Duncan, which has lost five straight, fell to 2-12 on the year.
