DUNCAN For the first time in nearly a month, a full slate of high school athletic activity will be available to sports fans. The Duncan, Marlow, Comanche and Velma-Alma basketball teams will start their seasons on Tuesday. On the wrestling front, Marlow will have its first dual on Tuesday, with Duncan and Comanche to join the fray on Thursday.

The Duncan basketball teams will be on the road on Tuesday when they travel to Northwest Classen. The Demons will have their work cut out for them as they take on a Knight team that is ranked No. 9 in the state. The Lady Demons will also have their work cut out for them as they look to overcome the loss of Kenzie Kennedy, who is out for two weeks.

The Duncan wrestling team will be a headliner this week as it opens the season at home against Lawton Eisenhower. A win would give head coach Tom Brack 400 during his career.

The Duncan swim team will take on all three Lawton schools this week in its first meet in two weeks. The Demons have had a strong run to open the season with the girls winning all three meets.

In Tuesday area basketball action, six area schools will be at home. Marlow will host Lone Grove and Comanche will host Frederick. Velma-Alma will kick off the season hosting Healdton. The Lady Bulldogs will enter the game, ranked No. 7 in Class 2A.

The Bray-Doyle boys will look to extend their record to 4-0 on the season when they take host Wilson. Both Central High teams will look for their first win when they host Sterling and Empire will jump back into action after a week-and-a-half layoff when it hosts Grandfield.

The wrestling slate will consist of Marlow traveling to Lawton High. Thursday night, the men in singlets will take center stage as Duncan hosts Lawton Eisenhower and Comanche travels to Elgin.

The Duncan basketball teams will have a busy weekend as they get a couple of games under their belt in the Cache Festival, which runs Friday and Saturday.

In other Friday night action, Marlow will travel to Elgin in what should be a good measuring stick for the Lady Outlaws as they take on the a Lady Owl team that is ranked No. 15 in Class 4A.

Comanche will renew a rivalry when it travels down the road to take on Waurika while Velma-Alma will host Rush Springs. Central High will hold its homecoming when it takes on Ninnekah. The Lady Owls enter the game ranked No. 19 in the state in Class A. Central High will also be in action on Saturday when it hosts Rush Springs.
