Big things lie ahead for Generations

Renovations in store for Marlow course

MARLOW MARLOW — Big plans are in the works at Generations Golf Course in Marlow.

A purchase of land and an eye toward renovation as Doug Schrock thinking big on the back nine of the golf course. The family owned golf course has begun work on lengthening the course and making it a challenge throughout the full course.

The back nine is limited in yardage, with all nine holes packed together. The new dimensions of the course will add length and Schrock will take care of the rest.

“I like to build more than I like to maintain,” Schrock said of his new project. “We are going to start work this winter. It will take three years to get everything built.”

Larry Davis helped give Generations a leg up on the project by helping move dirt at the back of the property. What is now No. 10 will become No. 13 with the tees moved to the middle of the parking lot. The parking lot and clubhouse will be moved to the back of the property where No. 14 now lies.

Hole No. 11 will become No. 14 with length added to make it a true Par 4. The No. 15 hole will also be at the back and will measure 376 yards from the blue tees. It is at No. 16 where Schrock will bring his vision to bear with a tough Par 4. The hole will measure 310 yards and will feature an elevated green beyond a pond. Errant shots left of the hole or over will run the risk of going out of bounds.

No. 17 will be a Par 3 from 158 yards out and will run uphill against a crosswind. From there, golfers will move to a No. 18 hole that will be lined with native grass and will have a dogleg. The hole will measure 390 yards and will be a Par 4.

Schrock will take advantage of the existing hole on the back to create the other three holes in the back. The No. 10 hole will be rated the hardest on the course. Golfers will tee off from the existing No. 10 tees and play a dogleg to the No. 12 green. The Par 4 will measure 434 yards. The No. 11 tees will lie near an existing structure and will require a golfer to clear the pond in the middle of the course. The hole will measure 424 yards. The hole at No. 18 will remain the same other than become No. 12.

“The back nine will be harder than the front nine,” Schrock said.
