Duncan advances two to semifinals

Duell, Harztell and Moraes face early elimination matches

OKLAHOMA CITY — OKLAHOMA CITY — The Duncan Demons qualified its No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles players for Saturday’s semifinal round.

Eric Kent beat Bixby’s Nic Kerr 6-3, 6-0 in his No. 2 singles opener before downing Ada’s Matthew Wright 6-3, 6-1 in the quarters. Kent moved on to face McAlester’s Tucker Olsen in Saturday’s semis.

Bradley Toone and Braden Scott opened No. 2 doubles with a 6-1, 7-5 win over McAlester’s Brenner and Verrill before beating Carl Albert’s Fletcher and Johnson 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the semifinals, where they faced Tulsa Kelley’s Fesperman and Fox.

In No. 1 singles, Bryan Duell rebounded from a 6-1, 6-2 loss to Skiatook’s Bryan Canavan with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Durant’s Austin Emge. Duell faced Ada’s Robert Jackson in an elimination match on Saturday.

Vitor Moraes and Blake Hartzell opened No.1 doubles with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Tulsa Edison’s Coats and Walker, but were defeated 6-2, 6-0 in the quarters by Durant’s Duthie and Rucker. The duo faced Lawton Mac’s Barnes and Williams in an elimination match Saturday.

Shawnee and Durant joined Duncan with two divisions reaching the semis, while Tulsa Kelley led with four.
