The Duncan Demons tennis team did what it was supposed to Monday.

The Demons won their regional and advanced to state in all four events.

Sean Cobble won No. 1 singles, and Aaron Buchanan was tops in No. 2 singles.

Daniel Dudley and Blake Hartzell won No. 2 doubles, while Jeffrey Hemphill and Jesse Bailey placed second in No. 1 doubles.

“No. 1 doubles played extremely well,” DHS had coach Phil Barnes said. “Everybody else pretty much dominated their bracket.”

Cobble got a bye in the first round, and he then beat Shaun Hanks of Altus, 6-0, 6-0, to advance to the finals.

In the finals, Cobble disposed of Ardmore’s Marshall Means 6-3, 6-1.

Buchanan won, 6-0, 6-0, over Michael Knight of Altus, and beat Kyle Craighead 6-1, 6-0 in the finals of No. 2 singles.

Bailey and Hemphill defeated Palmer and Elledge of El Reno, 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round of No. 1 doubles.

Bailey and Hemphill then avenged a loss from earlier this season by beating Ardmore’s Argo and Jordan, 7-6, 6-1. Hemphill and Bailey fell in the finals 6-3, 6-4 to Altus’ Reinke and Weldon.

“No. 1 doubles played well, and they beat Ardmore. That was a big win for them,” Barnes said.

Hartzell and Dudley got a bye and then beat Buckner and Essex of Chickasha 6-0, 6-0.

In the finals, Hartzell and Dudley won 6-1, 6-1, over Juadarrama and Keaton of Ardmore.

The Demons will be in action Friday and Saturday at the Oklahoma State Championships.
