Church Briefs offer glimpse of weekend, upcoming activities



Ray of Hope Church

On Wednesday nights, ministry for the entire family begins with a meal at 6 p.m. and then 7 p.m. services. Adults meet in the sanctuary for Bible study. Overcomer’s Outreach, Grief Support, Heart to Heart women’s group and choir are also available. Youth services include Breakthrough youth, Elevate youth and KidZone youth. Nursery and pre-school classes are provided for all services. Deeper Walk Connect is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. Spare Parts Connect will meet 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Men of Integrity will be 7 p.m. Monday.

True Gospel Tabernacle

Learn about God at True Gospel Tabernacle, pastor is Suff. Bishop Sherman P. Tyler Sr. who leads the Sunday morning prayer, followed by Sunday school for all ages. West Side Christian Church

Rev. Terry Schlein will preach on “A Veteran’s Advice” at West Side Christian Church this Sunday. His Scripture text will be Psalm 17:1. The pastor’s children’s sermon will be “Jesus Calms the Storm,” with Mark 3:35 as his reference. Randy Rosine will sing “America, the Beautiful” while showing a slide presentation he has prepared to honor veterans. Meetings this week will include: Youth Group at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Outreach Team at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Stewardship Team at 6 p.m. on Monday, elders and diaconate at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Leadership Team at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and Prayer Shawl Knitters at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. The monthly fellowship supper will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. This month’s fare will be breakfast, with pancakes and sausage provided. Those who attend may bring fruit, desserts, or other dishes to complement the pancakes. Donations of blankets and money will be accepted from Nov. 11-25.     For Michael Shank, author of “Muscle and a Shovel,” his came when he attended a Bible study taught by a former co-worker only revealed as Randall.
    Shank will share his story Sunday, Sept. 1, in three services at Eastside Church of Christ.
    Services will be open to the public and are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
