Church Briefs offer glimpse of weekend, upcoming activities

DUNCAN —

Parkview Baptist Church

Sunday morning Brother Steven Gillispie’s sermon will deliver a message on “Being committed to the Family. Are you committed to the whole family?”

During the morning worship time Jeramy Haas will be providing the music. The evening sermon will continue with the family, “Stepping out of your comfort zone.” Wednesday, Nov. 14, the women of Parkview will meet at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast, prayer, and fellowship.

There will be no noonday brown bag study that day; however, they will have their church-wide Thanksgiving Dinner at 6 p.m. The church appreciates all  who participated in the food drive for Christians Concerned “Trick or Treat so others can eat”; they collected and delivered a truckload of groceries. First Christian Church

This Sunday morning the church will be celebrating its Veterans. Rev. Arnold Nelson will deliver the message at the morning worship services in the sanctuary. God’s Word for this week is “Beware of Those Who Make the Rules” with Scripture from Mark 12:38. Kevin Zinn will lead the choir in congregational singing, accompanied by Patty Jennings, organist/pianist. The doors at the Well, 913 W. Main, are open by 10:15 a.m. for a time of fellowship and refreshments. Rev. Jennifer Steil will deliver the message from the Sermon Series “When 7 is Deadly.” Children and youth are invited to participate in special events during Advent.

Unity Missionary Baptist

The Adult One class will study about Micah in Judges: 17-21-Desecrating the Worship. Unity has classes for all ages. A nursery is provided. The Sunday morning song service will be led by Bro. Dennis Johnson.

Bro. Todd Brooks will preach the evening service. His message will be from Luke 14:23, “Counting the Costs.” Unity’s Pastor Bro. David McAllister will be in Revival services at the Friendship Baptist Church southwest of Comanche. Friendships’ Pastor is Bro. Dan Standifer. Revival services are Sunday through Wednesday night. Service time for Sunday is 6 p.m. and then at 7 p.m. for Monday to Wednesday service. Bro. David Standifer will preach the Wednesday service.

    For Michael Shank, author of “Muscle and a Shovel,” his came when he attended a Bible study taught by a former co-worker only revealed as Randall.
    Shank will share his story Sunday, Sept. 1, in three services at Eastside Church of Christ.
    Services will be open to the public and are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
