May 24 Church Briefs

  •  Ray of Hope

Sunday services begin with a variety of morning classes for all ages followed by children’s church and morning worship.  

Sunday evening worship services meet in the main sanctuary with specialized services for youth.

Wednesday nights, ministry for the entire family begins with a meal followed by services. Adults meet in the sanctuary for Bible study.

Reed Connect will meet at 6 p.m. Saturday at the home of MC and Kathy Reed. Promotion Sunday will be Sunday, June 2. Summer camps are coming up in June. For more information, call 580-252-7772.

  •  Grace Baptist

The Sunday morning message and special music will be geared around Memorial Day. Worship leader Mark Marine will be leading the music. The evening service is canceled in honor of  Memorial Day.

The Adult Sunday school class lesson titled “Look For Good Works” is from Titus 3:1. The class will help answer the question: since I’m created in Christ for good works, what should I be doing?

The Wednesday night Bible study and prayer meeting will start at 7 p.m.

The next men and boys’ prayer breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1 in the fellowship hall.

  •  All Saints’ Episcopal

This Sunday, Rev. Slovak will speak on the topic “I am only one,” looking at the Christian call to action. In light of the tragedy that has happened this week in Oklahoma, how do we respond as Christians? Sunday School Classes meet in various rooms - come and check it out. Following the service is fellowship in Parish Hall.  

  •  First United Methodist

FUMC music ministry is hosting a free concert by the Jubilation Ringers. They are directed by Josh Fitzgerald.

The Jubilation Ringers, a group of 24 middle school and high school students from Church of the Messiah United Methodist in Westerville, Ohio, will pay a concert at First United Methodist Church in Duncan at 7 p.m. Friday, May 31 at FUMC.

The program includes well known arrangements of music, from the peace-filling “Dona Nobis Pacem” to an arrangement of the popular song “Just Dance.” There will be several well-known handbell pieces including “Spirit Wind” and “Capriccio.” For more information call 580-255-3353.

    Oklahomans are being asked to focus on water conservation and stewardship and continue to keep drought-affected areas in their thoughts. A state-wide day of prayer has been set for 6 p.m. Sept. 18, backed by Oklahoma Conservation Districts, Oklahoma Conference of Churches and Whole Creation Community partnership.

    Almost everyone has at least one defining experience in their life which makes them take a closer look at all the beliefs they hold.
    For Michael Shank, author of “Muscle and a Shovel,” his came when he attended a Bible study taught by a former co-worker only revealed as Randall.
    Shank will share his story Sunday, Sept. 1, in three services at Eastside Church of Christ.
    Services will be open to the public and are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
