May 24 Church Briefs



  •  Stephens United Methodist Church

Pastor Mikel Araujo will be preaching from the book of Mark this Sunday. “Sell All Your Things and Give To the Poor” is the sermon title. Pastor Araujo is preaching a five week series of sermons “The Radical Sayings of Jesus.” This is week two of the series. A nursery is available every Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon for ages 0-4 years.

The Clothes Closet will be open from 1-4 p.m. Saturday. There is a large selection of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing .

  •  True Gospel Tabernacle

  •  Tanglewood Bible Fellowship

After the call to worship, read by Dale Corbin, James Mitchell will lead a time of congregational worship. Dr. Brad McCoy will begin a new study series “Walking with Jesus in the Land of the Bible.”

After the message fellowship, adults will regather in the auditorium for sharing and prayer, the Young Adult Class will begin a new study of the booklet “It’s Not My Fault!” Middle and high school students will meet in the Uth Room and children will move from Sunday School to Junior Church.

Wednesday morning, the Ladies AM Bible Study will meet at 9 a.m. at the church. There will be a fellowship dinner at 5:45-6:45 p.m., followed by a special WOW Wednesday service for the entire family, which will highlight the church’s two summer mission projects for 2013.

    Oklahomans are being asked to focus on water conservation and stewardship and continue to keep drought-affected areas in their thoughts. A state-wide day of prayer has been set for 6 p.m. Sept. 18, backed by Oklahoma Conservation Districts, Oklahoma Conference of Churches and Whole Creation Community partnership.

    Almost everyone has at least one defining experience in their life which makes them take a closer look at all the beliefs they hold.
    For Michael Shank, author of “Muscle and a Shovel,” his came when he attended a Bible study taught by a former co-worker only revealed as Randall.
    Shank will share his story Sunday, Sept. 1, in three services at Eastside Church of Christ.
    Services will be open to the public and are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
