May 24 Church Briefs


  •  Western Heights Baptist

The Ladies of WHBC will have a Bunco night at 7 p.m. Friday, May 31.

Worship with Tony Hooper, minister of music, is followed by a sermon by Pastor Chris Percival.

In Sunday school, the adult classes are in week 13 (Look for Good Works – Titus 3:1) of the Exploring the Bible study guide. The children’s class is studying in the Book of Acts and about how WHBC began.

  •  New Hope Baptist

In the morning worship service, Bro. Randy Southerland will bring the message “And It Was In the Days of Noah” Matthew 24:36; Genesis 6.

Music provided by the Adult Choir with “I Worship You.”

In the evening worship service, Bro. Randy Southerland will bring the message.   

Wednesday night service and activities are Prayer Time, youth activities and The Gospel Project at 6 p.m. and Santuary Bible Study at 6:30 p.m.

Upcoming events and activities are Youth Super Summer June 10–14, Vacation Bible School June 17-21, Youth Panama Missions Trip June 22-29, Youth Camp at Falls Creek July 8-13, and Kidz Camp at Cross Timbers July 11-14. For a ride to church or more information call 580-252-3899.

  •  Highland Park Baptist

“Remembering” will be the message delivered by Bro. Jerry Couch during the Sunday morning worship service. The Scripture reference is from, Hebrews 12:1. Music will be provided by Jim Adams and Steve Kelly.

Bro. Jerry Couch will deliver the message “Jesus Is In The House” with scripture reference from Mark 2:1 during the evening worship. Martin & Parker Quartet will provide music for the evening service. Bro. Jerry will continue the study of Daniel at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Activities for kids and youth will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday also.

  •  Saint Paul’s United Methodist

This Sunday at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church begins with Bible study followed Sunday morning worship during which a special offering will be received for 2013 May Tornado Relief. At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday is senior game night.

  • OACD, Oklahoma Conference of Churches pair up for ‘drought prayer’

    Oklahomans are being asked to focus on water conservation and stewardship and continue to keep drought-affected areas in their thoughts. A state-wide day of prayer has been set for 6 p.m. Sept. 18, backed by Oklahoma Conservation Districts, Oklahoma Conference of Churches and Whole Creation Community partnership.

    Almost everyone has at least one defining experience in their life which makes them take a closer look at all the beliefs they hold.
    For Michael Shank, author of “Muscle and a Shovel,” his came when he attended a Bible study taught by a former co-worker only revealed as Randall.
    Shank will share his story Sunday, Sept. 1, in three services at Eastside Church of Christ.
    Services will be open to the public and are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
