6-28 Church Briefs



  •  West Side Christian

Rev. Terry Schlein will preach on “Flames That Threaten America” at West Side Christian Church this Sunday. His scripture text will be Isaiah 9:18-21. The pastor’s children’s sermon will be “The Greatest of These Is Love,” based on the 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians. The choir will sing a patriotic medley titled “An American Celebration.”

On Wednesday, the Worship and Property Teams will meet at 6 p.m. and the choir will rehearse at 6:30 p.m.

Plans are underway for the Summer Event and Vacation Bible School, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. July 14-17.

  •  Gospel Beams

Sunday morning at the Gospel Beams Church the Rev. Ron Howard will be ministering. In planning of the evening we will have Freedom Fest. This event includes an outdoor concert with live music, hot dogs and an inflatable slide.

This is a free event and members of the community are cordially invited to bring their lawn chairs and join at 6 p.m. For questions or information, call 580-255-8031.

  •  Ray of Hope

Join Ray of Hope on June 30 for a special service “God and Country” – honoring God and celebrating America through the word and song.

Sunday evening worship services meet in the main sanctuary with specialized services for Breakthrough youth (grades 9-12), Elevate youth (grades 6-8), KidZone (grades 1-5) and Faith Roots (ages 3-5).

There will be no Wednesday evening services on July 3.

Neher Connect is at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the home of Ken and Carolyn Neher.  All church fellowship will be held Sunday following the evening service. Women of Honor will meet at 6:45 p.m. Monday, July 1 (childcare provided). Make plans to join in on “Hip-Hop Hope” VBS from 9 a.m. to noon July 15-19 for ages pre-K through 6th grade (fall of 2013).

    Oklahomans are being asked to focus on water conservation and stewardship and continue to keep drought-affected areas in their thoughts. A state-wide day of prayer has been set for 6 p.m. Sept. 18, backed by Oklahoma Conservation Districts, Oklahoma Conference of Churches and Whole Creation Community partnership.

    Almost everyone has at least one defining experience in their life which makes them take a closer look at all the beliefs they hold.
    For Michael Shank, author of “Muscle and a Shovel,” his came when he attended a Bible study taught by a former co-worker only revealed as Randall.
    Shank will share his story Sunday, Sept. 1, in three services at Eastside Church of Christ.
    Services will be open to the public and are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
