  •  Good Shepherd Lutheran

On this Sixth Sunday After Pentecost, Pastor David Heitner’s sermon will be titled “Don’t Give Up!” Relevant Scriptures to be read will be 1 Kings 19:9b-21; Galatians 5:1, 13-25; and Luke 9:51-62. Sunday School and Adult Bible Study is followed by fellowship time, then worship.

The “God For Us” class, for those wanting to know more about the Lutheran faith, is offered at noon on Tuesdays in the north end of the building.

The Elders will meet at 6 p.m. and the Council at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3.

  •  Highland Park Baptist

“America Is Burning” will be the message delivered by Bro. Jerry Couch during “The Old Time Gospel Sunday” morning worship service, with scripture reference from Isaiah 9:18-21. Music will be provided by Pat Parker.

Following the service, will be “Dinner on the Grounds,” in the gym. Bring a covered dish or dessert. There will be no regularly scheduled evening service.

Wednesday evening, Bro. Jerry Couch will continue the Study of Daniel. Activities for kids and youth will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday also.

  •  First United Methodist

Sunday, all who worship in Traditional will have a real treat. The Trio of Verna, Amy and Emily Wilson will be singing the introit and the anthem. Those who have heard them, know what a great blend they have.

The choir will be sitting in the choir loft to help lead in the other elements of worship. Dr. Tolle will continue with the sermon series:  “UnShackled – finding true freedom: The Freedom of Responsibility.” The scripture is Galatians 6:1-16. The reader will be Rhonda David.

You are also invited to attend the Connexion service which meets every Sunday in the FUM Center. This service is a modern worship style (praise band and media) with a traditional understanding of faith. Dr. Tolle preaches the same sermon in both services.

    Oklahomans are being asked to focus on water conservation and stewardship and continue to keep drought-affected areas in their thoughts. A state-wide day of prayer has been set for 6 p.m. Sept. 18, backed by Oklahoma Conservation Districts, Oklahoma Conference of Churches and Whole Creation Community partnership.

    For Michael Shank, author of “Muscle and a Shovel,” his came when he attended a Bible study taught by a former co-worker only revealed as Randall.
    Shank will share his story Sunday, Sept. 1, in three services at Eastside Church of Christ.
    Services will be open to the public and are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
