Church briefs for Aug. 30



Hope Community

Hope Community Church will have special guests during Sunday’s morning worship service.

Rebecca Greenwood, founder and president of Christian Harvest International, will be speaking and sharing of the ministry God has given that reaches around the World.

Rebecca is the author of “Authority To Tread” and has ministered in over 25 different countries. 

First United Methodist

Sunday in the traditional service, Rev. Dr. Greg Tolle will deliver a message continuing from the series “What the Man Said: Jesus’ Parables, Preaching and Priorities: Bending Backs, Bending Rules.”

This message is based on Luke 13:10-17. Fran Stiewert will sing “Lord of the Dance.” The Connexion service is in the FUM Center. Rev. Dr. Greg Tolle will deliver the same message and the praise and worship band will lead worship.

Assumption Catholic

Religious education for grades 1-8 is from 6-7:15 p.m. Wednesday and for grades 9-12 from 5-6:15 p.m. Sunday. A mandatory parent’s meeting will be during the Wednesday class.

The Altar Society prays the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary at 11:45 a.m. week days, at 3:30 p.m. Saturdays and at 9:30 a.m Sundays. The Altar Society is meeting after the afternoon Mass Thursday. Bring a potluck dish to share.

First Friday Adoration is after the afternoon Daily Mass until 9 p.m. Friday

The Immaculate Conception Church in Marlow will have its monthly Spaghetti Dinner from 11-1:15 p.m.

Ray of Hope Church

Wednesday nights, ministry for the entire family begins with a meal followed by services. Adults meet in the sanctuary for Bible study. Overcomer’s Outreach, Heart to Heart women’s group and choir are also available. Youth services include Breakthrough youth, Elevate youth, and KidZone youth.

After Hours Connect will meet at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at Applebee’s. The ROH annual golf tournament (4 person scramble) will be at 8 a.m. Saturday at Twin Oaks Golf Course. The fee includes a cart and lunch.  

“An Evening with Sanctus Real” concert is at 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are available through the church office at 580 252-7772 or Doors open at 6 p.m.

    For Michael Shank, author of “Muscle and a Shovel,” his came when he attended a Bible study taught by a former co-worker only revealed as Randall.
    Shank will share his story Sunday, Sept. 1, in three services at Eastside Church of Christ.
    Services will be open to the public and are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
