Church briefs for Aug. 30

(Continued)

DUNCAN —

Immanuel Baptist

Plans are underway for the second annual Immanuel Judgment House that will take place in late October. Last year, churches all over the area brought young people and adults through the Judgment House and a large crowd is expected once again. The event is open to other churches and individuals throughout the community.

The Wednesday Night Fall Schedule will begin Wednesday. At 5 p.m., meals for families with children will be served. At 5:30 p.m., meals will be served for all. K’Motion for 1st-6th graders begins at 6 p.m. Adult service begins at 6:30 p.m. and the youth begin their Student Service at 6:30 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., the Adult Praise Choir will meet in the choir room with Brian Holland.

The annual Ethiopia Mission Trip for 2013 will be from Dec. 27-Jan. 6. All those who want to go with this group and missed last Sunday’s meeting need to contact Brian Holland for information. One of the main thrusts for these mission trips is to work at the Grace Centre Orphanage and help the missionaries there with projects.

Immanuel will sponsor the Duncan High School home football game Friday, along with the Fifth Quarter.

It is open to all high school students.

First Christian Church

On Sunday, Rev. Arnold Nelson will deliver the sermon at the morning worship services in the sanctuary. His sermon is titled “The Gossip About Jesus” with Scripture from Luke 14:1, 7-14.  Worship services will be held at the Well with Ryan Benton delivering the message. His message is “I’ve Got Friends In Low Places” with Scripture: Luke 14:1, 7-14.  First Christian Church welcomes Drew Kirtley as minister to youth.

All Saints’ Episcopal

This is the last week for “Coffee with the Rector” Sunday morning. Beginning Sept. 8, the adult and youth class will begin a “Tour through The Book of Common Prayer” —everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask.

Every Wednesday, All Saints’ has a worship service in the Chapel.

On the 4th Sunday of every month there is a special contemporary service in the chapel. This month, this service will be on Sept. 22. A fellowship meal will follow this service in Parish Hall.

Children’s Sunday school begins Sept. 8. The children’s program uses the Faithweaver Curriculum from Group Publishing. Sept. 8 is also Rally Day, when the church will have a potluck for all in the Parish Hall after the morning service.

Poll

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
