  •  Rivers of Life Family
Rivers of Life Family Church in Duncan is excited to announce that Dr. Gary Wood will be the guest speaker at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7 and 10:30 p.m. Sunday, June 9.
Dr. Gary has an amazing testimony of dying in a car accident and his experience of going to heaven and coming back to earth. He has written a book about his testimony called “A Place Called Heaven.”
  •  Western Heights Baptist
This Sunday evening, WHBC will be hosting The Women’s Care Pregnancy Center for a presentation about what the center does on a day to day basis along with what the services they provide for the community.
The Seniors Ministry will hold their monthly game night at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the fellowship hall. Covered dishes and chicken foot make for a great fellowship with one another. At 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, the senior Ladies II class will have their luncheon.
Worship with Tony Hooper, minister of music, begins at 10:50 a.m. followed by a sermon by Pastor Chris Percival.
  •  Unitarian Universalist of Lawton
Rev. Anna Holloway will consider what ways the traditional church is failing the people who classify themselves as “none” in her talk “Spiritual but not Religious AKA ‘none’: What Does it Mean?” Rev. Holloway is associated with the United Church of Christ and is a resident of Norman. Following the Sunday morning service, there will be a potluck lunch and board meeting.
  • Good Shepherd Lutheran
Pastor David Heitner’s sermon will be titled “God Visits His People to Give Life.” Relevant Scriptures to be read will be 1 Kings 17:17, Galatians 1:11, and Luke 7:11. Sunday School and Adult Bible Study are followed by fellowship time, then worship.
The “God For Us” class is offered at noon on Tuesdays in the north end of the building.

  • OACD, Oklahoma Conference of Churches pair up for ‘drought prayer’

    Oklahomans are being asked to focus on water conservation and stewardship and continue to keep drought-affected areas in their thoughts. A state-wide day of prayer has been set for 6 p.m. Sept. 18, backed by Oklahoma Conservation Districts, Oklahoma Conference of Churches and Whole Creation Community partnership.

  • 9-1 Michael Shank visits Duncan, Ridleys.jpg Relearning religion opened doors

    Almost everyone has at least one defining experience in their life which makes them take a closer look at all the beliefs they hold.
    For Michael Shank, author of “Muscle and a Shovel,” his came when he attended a Bible study taught by a former co-worker only revealed as Randall.
    Shank will share his story Sunday, Sept. 1, in three services at Eastside Church of Christ.
    Services will be open to the public and are at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

    Local ministers are encouraging their congregations to use prayer in dealing with emotions of worry and fear that have surfaced following the shooting death of Chris Lane, a college baseball player who was visiting Sarah Harper, his girlfriend here.
