By Jayne Boykin

DUNCAN —
Once again, Eastside Church of Christ in Duncan is offering a Bible Teachers Workshop to the community, with some new teachers and topics this year.
The workshop will begin with registration, coffee, soft drinks and doughnuts at 8 a.m. May 3.
Singing in the auditorium will begin at 8:30 a.m., with a devotional, “A Life Worth Living,” by Jeff Jenkins at 9 a.m.
Elmer Hewitt is directing the 29th annual event, as he has all the past years. He will give introductions and announcements at 9:45 a.m.
Hewitt has again asked Jane Buntley of Duncan to coordinate the workshop and oversee the preschool and elementary classes.
Buntley’s daughter, Tami Fennel of Edmond, will also return to help teach a class.
Classes will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. and from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Lunch is from 11:45 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. in the south parking lot of the church at 202 N. A, then more classes are offered from 1 to 1:45 p.m. and 1:55 to 2:40 p.m.
The price of the lunch is included in the workshop’s registration fee.
The annual workshops are showing wide-ranging results, as several workshops in surrounding states have sprung from the annual Duncan event. This has been the goal and dream of the Eastside workshop for all these years.
This enables more teachers to get the information they need to be the most outstanding instructors possible and bring their classrooms to life with brilliantly colored visuals and lessons to hold the attention of their students.
This year’s theme is “We Must Teach Them to Reach Them.”
New this year, Jesus Ramos, minister of the Hispanic Church of Christ in Duncan, will speak along with Vladimer Martinez of Oklahoma City on “A Distinctive Model of the New Testament Church” in the third session, with Spanish-to-English translation. Ramos’ congregation meets just west of the main church building.
Also new to Eastside is Tad McGalliard, the church’s youth minister, who will conduct a class in the afternoon on “The Light of Change — Teaching Youth of 2008 (sixth through 12th grades).” McGalliard is a graduate of East Central University with a bachelor’s degree in human resources and counseling.
