Time for rally

Evangelism is topic at Fair Baptist Church

By Jayne Boykin
The Duncan Banner

DUNCAN Mullins Baptist Association is conducting an evangelism rally Feb. 25 at Fair Baptist Church, north of Empire School. The rally will begin at 7 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude about 8:15 p.m.

A stew and cornbread meal will be served from 6 to 6:45 p.m. in the church’s fellowship hall. A “sweet” fellowship will follow the meeting.

The rally will stress the Christian’s responsibility to tell others about his/her relationship with Jesus Christ.

Rally preacher will be the Rev. Keith Wiginton. Music will be led by Gary Adams, minister of music at New Hope Baptist Church West. A special musical number will be presented by a quartet — Lance Jones, Ken Layne, Lyndon Graf and Chris Genn — from Marlow First Baptist Church. Press Mahaffey will accompany them on the piano. Andrea Prindle of Fair Baptist Church and Joel Phillips of Central Baptist Church will also present special musical numbers.

A video presenting a witnessing technique prepared by the Rev. Buddy Hunt, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Duncan, will be shown during the rally. Hunt will also give a witnessing testimony.

Keith Wiginton grew up in western Oklahoma and is a graduate of Southwestern University in Weatherford where he was a four-year starter in both basketball and baseball. He also holds a master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

Before his retirement six years ago to preach revival meetings and be a conference leader, Wiginton pastored First Baptist Church of Altus for 30 years. Under his leadership and preaching, the church baptized 100 or more every year but one. They also baptized 300 or more for four consecutive years and led the state in baptisms several times. He is both an evangelistic preacher and a personal soul winner.

Wiginton has been called on to lead conferences in 10 states; served as preacher, Bible teacher and conference leader at both Glorieta and Ridgecrest many times; and was the preacher at Falls Creek three separate years.

He and his wife, Linda, now reside in the Mullins Association and make their home at Lake Humphreys. They are members of First Baptist Church, Marlow.

For information, call the association at 580-255-0149, or Fair Baptist Church at 252-5600. The church is at 3535 Empire Road.
