Special thoughts for Thanksgiving

The Duncan Banner

DUNCAN — As we enjoy the splendor of a beautiful holiday season, one that can’t be spoiled by recent dreary weather, let us all find peace, joy and comfort in the holiest of words taken from The Reformation Study Bible.

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise.

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.

The sea is his for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

~ Psalm 95: 1-6

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

~ Psalm 107: 1

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!

Serve the Lord with gladness!

Come into his presence with singing!

Know that the Lord, he is God!

It is he who made us and we are his; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him! Bless his name!

For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

~ Psalm 100

Yours, O God, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now, we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.

~ 1 Chronicles 29: 11-13
