Fannie Mae Metcalf

June 21, 1928 — Feb. 28, 2013

OKLAHOMA CITY —  

Fannie Mae Metcalf, 84, passed away gently, in her sleep Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, in Oklahoma City. 
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan, with her son-in-Law, Michael Flowers officiating. Burial will follow at the Duncan Cemetery under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Fannie was born June 21, 1928, in Bennington, to James Mooney and Lillie Marinda McCauley Mooney. Fannie attended school in Bennington and moved to Duncan after high school.
Fannie met and married Charles L. Metcalf on July 30, 1949, in Duncan. Charlie preceded her in death on March 6, 1965.
Fannie lived in Duncan for more than 60 years and was a member of the Westside Church of Christ. Fannie loved her family and being involved in the community with the Garden Club, Bee Club and volunteering for the voting poll stations. 
Survivors include a son: Dannye Charles Metcalf of Duncan; and two daughters: Marinda Flowers and husband Michael of Edmond, Gwen Strother and husband Larry of Topeka, Kan.; grandchildren: Tara Marinda Malathip, Aaron Strother, Conner Strother and Charlie Flowers and Sarah Flowers; great-grandchildren: Preston Malathip, Parker Malathip and Riley Kay Strother; nieces: Velma Metcalf, Rebecca Borchardt, Ben Mooney, Sandra Mooney, Barbra Brinkley and Lynn Joiner; Jimmy Mooney; and many great-nieces and nephews. 
She was also preceded in death by her parents; mother in-law, Dollie Metcalf; sister, Thelma Morton; brothers: Webney, Cecil and Durward Mooney; nephews: James Russell Morton, Ronald Morton, George Mooney, David Mooney. 
Pallbearers will be Larry Strother, Michael Flowers, Charlie Flowers, Aaron Strother, Conner Strother, Bon Malathip.
Memorial gifts may be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
