RUSH SPRINGS —
Earnest Neal Douthit, 54, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at his home in Rush Springs.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs with Vernon Whaley officiating. Burial will be under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.
Neal was born Thursday, Oct. 16, 1958, in Gruever, Texas, to Jack and Edna Ruby (Hernstrom) Douthit. Neal lived in and attended school in Hooker. He moved to Rush Springs when he was 16. Neal worked in the oilfield as a driller for more than 30 years.
He married Lynda Cox on Aug. 19, 1993, in Witchita Falls, Texas. Neal was a true Chevy man and enjoyed fishing, restoring hot rods and tinkering with lawnmowers. He was a member of the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church in Rush Springs.
Survivors include wife, Lynda Douthit of the home; son, Kenneth Qualls and Season McDonald of Duncan; daughter, Kimberly Shelton and husband Rocky of Ft. Cobb; grandsons: Tyler Reavis of Rush Springs, Ethan Qualls of Paris, Texas, Andrew Shelton of Fort Cobb; sister, Helen Stobie of Washington; aunt, Lorene Alaniz; uncle, Lester Brooks; mother-in-law, Dorthy Cox of Duncan; brothers-in-law: Marvin Cox Jr. and wife Nelda, and Jeff Campbell and wife Tina of Piedmont; sister-in-law, Debra Ince of Granbury, Texas; step-grandmother, Blondie Douthit of Lawton; faithful companion, Knothead.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents; uncles: Paul Douthit and Mel Douthit; aunt, Corinne Scott Swanson; and father-in-law, Marvin Cox Sr.
Pallbearers will be Andy Hicks, Johnny Stringfellow, Larry Crabb, Carl Nunn, Buford Boswell, Dale Vanhouten, Truett Shirley and T. J. Moore.
