FORT WORTH, Texas —
Laverne Dickey, 82, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at River Oaks Baptist Church in River Oaks. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation is open.
Laverne was born to Jesse and Minnie Beck on Aug. 28, 1931, in Duncan. She met and married Truman Dickey on Nov. 22, 1951. During their 62 years of marriage, they raised two children together.
Laverne retired from Lockheed Martin in 1991. She was an active member and faithful servant at River Oaks Baptist Church and was a beloved and cherished friend to many of its parishioners.
Laverne's greatest love in life was her family for whom she was always present and available. She made a house a home with her passion for cooking, sewing and canning fresh vegetables from her garden. She was known to be a wife, mother, grandmother and friend with unfading compassion and a gentle spirit.
Laverne was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Laverne was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Diane; and a son, Don Brent.
Survivors include husband, Truman Dickey of Fort Worth; son, Greg and daughter-in-law Carol, both of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Amy Dickey of Norman; grandson, Grant Dickey of College Station; sister, Reva Kay Shaddock of Duncan; niece, Stacy Rogers, of Tuttle; and, nephew, Dale White of Bethany.
