Charles Ronald Jones

Feb. 4, 1938-Feb. 14, 2014

LINDSAY — Charles (Charlie) Ronald Jones, of Lindsay, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

Charlie was born on February 4, 1938 in Comanche, Okla., to Emma and Herman Jones. He grew up in a large family with three sisters and five brothers. As a boy, he loved to play baseball, basketball and hunt with his brothers and close friends.

Charlie met Barbara Hill at Comanche High School, and they became an “item” in 1955. They were married February 15, 1958, at the First Baptist Church of Comanche. They moved to Lindsay, Okla., in 1959 and soon became parents of three beautiful girls, often referred to as “Charlie’s Angels.”

He opened KBLP radio station in 1991 in Lindsay. For Charlie, KBLP was much more than a job or business but a way to give to a community he dearly loved.

Although he threw a tall shadow and leaves a painful void behind, we will again see that larger-than-life figure strolling up in his black 4X Beaver Stetson and hear the familiar words, “Let’s go out and make this a grrrrreat day”.

Charlie leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann; along with three daughters: Laurie (Mark) Jaster of Oklahoma City; Julie (Mark) McGuffee of Oklahoma City; and Gina (Kevin) Beam of Lindsay, Okla.; six grandchildren, Kyle Akins of Edmond, Okla., Kristopher (Stephanie) Akins of College Station, Texas, Zachary (Andrlynn) Beam of York, Penn., Kaleb Beam of Lindsay, Okla., Jonathan McGuffee of Oklahoma City and Anna Catherine McGuffee of Oklahoma City; two great-grandchildren, Charles Akins of Edmond, Okla., and Liam Beam of York, Penn.; his “adopted” son, Andrey Korovkin of Moscow, Russia.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Phil, Preston and his best friend, Lanny.

Funeral services for Mr. Jones are set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Erin Springs Baptist Church, located on highway 76 South of Lindsay, Okla., with Pastor Clay Hicks officiating and Pastor Gail Gardner assisting.  Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Okla.  Condolences may be made to the family online at

Should the date for The World's Largest Garage Sale be changed from the third weekend in July to sometime in October to take advantage of cooler weather like we had this past weekend?

No. It's better in the summer cause kids are out of school.
Yes. More shoppers would come during nice fall weather.
Either time is fine.
