C.J. Watson

C.J. Watson, 91, of Edmond, formerly of Duncan, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Grantham Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
C.J. was born Dec. 4, 1921, in Loco to Chester Joseph and Effie Pearl (Haston) Watson.
During World War II, he served as a radio operator in D Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine  Division. He received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the Pacific Theater at Peleliu, Palau Islands.
C.J. lived most of his life in Duncan, where he worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for 38 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. He moved to Edmond eight years ago to be closer to his son.
C.J. enjoyed hunting and the outdoors, especially fishing and camping with his family. He will be remembered as a loving and generous father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by a son, Jerry Watson and wife Sherry of Edmond; two stepsons, Jimmie Don Moore and wife Pam of Sanger, Texas, and Clinton Ray “Buddy” Moore and wife Mary Ann of Friendswood, Texas; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Adele Chance and husband Hal of Spring, Texas, and Betty Holden of Sand Springs; and many nieces, nephews  and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over 50 years, Frankie Mae (Carroll) Watson; and two sisters, Arna Fae Eaton and Louise Hartman.
The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice and the staff at Copper Lake Estates Assisted Living in Edmond for their care and kindness.
