Harold Eugene Thacker

DUNCAN — Harold Eugene Thacker, 87, of Duncan passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Guy Baird officiating. Burial, with Masonic Rites, will be at 2 p.m. in Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko under the direction of the Don Granthan Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends 2-3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Harold was born Jan. 5, 1926, at Anadarko to Elmer and Flora (Brush) Thacker. He attended school in Anadarko and graduated in 1944.

After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Harold went to work for Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City. While working there, he earned his degree in accounting from Hills Business College.

On Oct. 28, 1945, he married the love of his life, Annie Jo Jordan and with his family they moved to Oklahoma City, where he went to work for the Treasury Department. They moved to Duncan and lived for 14 years, was transferred to Lawton for 28 years, retired in 1980 and moved back to Duncan.

Harold was active in the Masonic Lodge #60 for 65 years. He was a member of the Valley of McAllister Scottish Rites for 55 years. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rites Mason, a member of Duncan Chapter Order of Eastern Star and was Worthy Patron in 1998.

Harold loved to fish, hunt and spend time with family.

He is survived by his wife Annie Jo Thacker of the home; three children, Stephen Thacker of Duncan, Karen Proffitt of Ellenwood, Kan., and Cathy Keyes and husband Larry of Duncan; a brother Roy Lee Thacker and wife Pam of Anadarko; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles A. Thacker, a daughter-in-law Verna Maye Thacker and a sister-in-law Sylvie Thacker.

Pallbearers will be Jake Keyes, Dwight Thacker, Cory Thacker, Jason Crow, Rex Moore and Spencer Proffitt. Honorary bearers will be his fellow Masons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to India Temple Childrens Transportation Fund, 3601 NW 36th,  Oklahoma City, OK 73113 or the charity of choice.
