CENTRAL HIGH — CENTRAL HIGH — Chester “Gump” Eberhart, 87 ,of the Central High community, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, after a short illness.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Central Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bob Burch and the Rev. Jerry Couch officiating. Interment will be Rock Creek Cemetery, and arrangements are under direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

There will be a family visitation to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the funeral home.

Gump was born June 11, 1926, in the Duncan area west of town, to Lewis H. and Bertie Lou Cook Eberhart. Gump worked as a carpenter and farmer, and worked for Tosco Oil Company for 29 1/2 years, before retiring in 1983. Gump married the love of his life Pauline Pamplin on March 9, 1946, at the Nellie Baptist Church in the Nellie community.

Gump was saved and baptized and joined the Nellie Baptist Church in 1938. He was a charter member of the Central Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include his sons: Dan Eberhart and his wife Cindi, Kenneth Eberhart and his wife Debbie, Dale Eberhart and his wife Balinda; a daughter, Janie Jung-Justus and her husband Charley, all of the Central High community; eight grandchildren: Heath Eberhart, Adam and Crystal Jung, Klaleigh Jung, Dakotah Jung and wife Kayla, Brandan Eberhart and Amanda Eberhart, and Lacy (Eberhart) and husband Jerry Clements, all of the Central High community, Cierra (Jung) and husband Jon Simms of Newcastle, Catrina (Eberhart) and husband Mike Winburn of Duncan; great-grandchildren: Johnathan Lee Eberhart, Blakley Dale Clements, Gretchen Dawn Jung and Zoey Grace Winburn, also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gump was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; parents, Louis and Bertie Eberhart; brother, Bud Eberhart; and a sister, Wilma Garrett.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Dennis, Ricky Taliaferro, Adam Jung, Dakotah Jung, Brandan Eberhart and Steve Parsons. Honorary pallbearers are Sunday school class.
